Integrated (Internal) Keyboards

These are built into the laptop chassis and often require major disassembly to replace.

Characteristics:

• Keyboard is screwed or riveted beneath the motherboard.

• Requires removal of:

  • Bottom casing

  • Battery

  • Motherboard

  • Possibly display hinges

• Common in ultrabooks, MacBooks, and many budget models.

Replacement Difficulty:

• High — best handled by experienced technicians.

• Risk of damaging internal components if not done carefully.
